PROJECT OBJECTIVES
The objective of our project was to work up an electronic image of the City Hall of the capital city of Prague, which would allow the citizens to visit, through spatial visualization, its spaces in a virtual environment enriched with other elements such as animated clerks, visitors, and other multiemedia content.
MOTIVATION
We have targeted an entirely new way of approaching the administration institution in our project, which, compared with regular internet interface offering a mere complex of text documents and photos with a very limited possibility of interactivity, offers a much more attractive spatial visualization completed with a great number of unique functions.
3D VERSUS 2D
The basic idea roots in the supposition that navigation in a computer-created three-dimensional environment which faithfully simulates the architecture of the building of the assembly has a much more natural feeling. Moving around the building, its corridors and staircases is intuitive and clears away the traditional barrier of complicated hypertext links. As a result, the computer screen offers a view very similar to a real visit of the actual building including true placement of individual sections.
POPULARIZATION
Thanks to a combination of advanced technologies of computer simulation and human approach, it is possible to offer citizens both help with tackling regular tasks and increase their interest in public administration at the same time. We hope that this project will help to overcome the certain lack of confidence that a part of the population still feels not only towards the administrative institutions but also towards any closer contact with modern information technologies.
